Job Summary
The Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is seeking applications for 2 Counselors. These positions will serve as generalist FSAP providers, offering clinical services to all university employees for a wide range of concerns and identities. Primary service delivery will be through counseling, with additional facilitation of groups and workshops/presentations.
These roles require a comprehensive understanding of how diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and social environments impact mental health, applying this awareness to deliver respectful, culturally informed, and client-centered care.
While not a training-focused role, incumbents may provide informal consultation to FSAP staff, supporting the office's commitment to welcoming, equitable, and culturally responsive services. Who We Are
FSAP supports the psychological needs and well-being of university employees through culturally relevant counseling, advising, and educational workshops. Services are offered in-person, virtually, and through hybrid modalities. Our team consists of multicultural, multidisciplinary, and multi-theoretical providers dedicated to affirming diverse human experiences and identities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. All services are provided at no cost to reduce barriers to mental health care.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Direct Services
- Provide culturally responsive individual, couples, and family counseling to faculty and staff, considering diverse backgrounds and identities, primarily within a brief therapy framework.
- Identify and engage employees from diverse cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including historically underrepresented or underserved populations in mental health.
- Offer crisis intervention, including suicide assessment and collaboration with the campus Threat Assessment team.
- Collaborate with university departments and employee resource groups to promote mental health awareness and resource access.
- Deliver psycho-educational workshops, presentations, or supportive groups focusing on skills for healthy relationships, families, and parenting.
Indirect Services
- Complete session notes, intake documents, and other clinical and administrative documentation in a timely manner.
- Attend regular supervision with the clinical supervisor.
- Provide informal support to master's level counseling interns.
- Attend regular supervision with the clinical supervisor.
- Contribute to other mission-relevant administrative duties as assigned.
Professional Development and Personal Growth
- Participate in department-relevant committees.
- Engage in self-work to identify and dismantle personal biases that may impede counselor effectiveness and interpersonal interactions.
- Attend professional development and conferences, particularly those advancing expertise in couples and families, and higher education and employee assistance programs.
- Fulfill other job duties supporting the FSAP office and leadership.
What You Should Know
- Hiring for 2 full-time positions with hybrid work modality options.
- No evening, weekend, or on-call hours are expected, barring extraordinary circumstances.
- These are term-limited positions, scheduled to begin on 6/1/26 and end on 06/30/2028.

What We Require
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage or Couples and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, or a related field from an accredited program within 3 months of hire.
- Active and in-good-standing candidate licensure in the State of Colorado within 3 months of hire.
- Completion of 9 months of experience as a Counseling Intern, or equivalent, under supervision in Colorado, within a higher education employee assistance program in the past 12 months.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in providing clinical services to individuals from multicultural backgrounds and historically marginalized populations in mental health.

- Competency with Microsoft 365 (Office), Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
