Job Description

The University of Colorado Denver is seeking a rostered faculty member to focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI). This role involves operationalizing recommendations from the University's AI Working Group, supporting faculty and staff in integrating AI tools into teaching, research, and administrative processes, and ensuring the ethical and effective adoption of AI technologies.

What you will do:

  • Lead efforts to socialize and implement recommendations from the AI working group.
  • Collaborate with academic stakeholders to understand and meet needs for AI tools and professional development.
  • Work with university leaders on the development and implementation of the CU Denver AI strategy.
  • Advise the Provost on AI in higher education, learning, teaching, and research.
  • Liaise with OIT regarding AI implementation efforts and supports for schools and colleges.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in AI and higher education.
  • Represent the expert faculty voice on AI internally and externally.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Current CU Denver rostered faculty member.
  • Earned terminal degree in any field or discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience in AI research, development, and/or applications in educational settings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and how AI can enhance teaching and learning.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute AI-related initiatives across departments.
  • Competence in using AI tools, learning management systems (LMS), and analytics platforms.
  • Strong ability to explain complex AI concepts in accessible language.
  • Skilled at working with cross-functional teams (IT, faculty, administration) to integrate AI solutions.
  • Ability to align AI initiatives with institutional goals and academic priorities.
  • Commitment to staying current with AI trends and best practices in higher education.
  • Ability to learn emerging AI technologies and adjust strategies accordingly.

Conditions of Employment

  • Term-limited position for Fall 2026, with possible extension to Spring 2027.
  • Must be a current CU Denver rostered faculty member.
  • Hybrid work structure: remote or in-office as needed. Collaboration in the office is encouraged.

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work. Minimal lifting, occasional bending or reaching.

Compensation and Benefits

  • One-time administrative stipend of $5,000, or one course release per semester.
  • Salary will be determined based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
  • This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Benefits include generous leave, health plans, and retirement contributions.
