Job Description

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) develops and advances initiatives that support the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus vision as a leading public university with a global reputation for excellence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for intellectually engaging international scholars from the Anschutz & Denver campuses to maintain a dynamic catalog of programs and events aimed at supporting the cultural and professional needs of scholars and their families. This role focuses on providing support from arrival in Denver throughout their engagement with the University.

What You Will Do

Transition Support (25%)

  • Provide guidance to international scholars with their transition to Colorado regarding housing, transportation, life in Colorado, and institutional resources.
  • Provide tailored services for special populations.
  • Structure communication with newly admitted scholars to foster connection.
  • Provide assistance and navigation support for university systems.
  • Escalate strategic concerns to the Director of International Operations.

International Scholar Engagement, Support, and Advocacy (25%)

  • Develop and present services, resources, and activities that advocate for international scholars.
  • Encourage scholars to engage with programs, activities, and academic resources.
  • Create strategies to encourage engagement among domestic and international scholars.
  • Collaborate with academic and service departments.
  • Raise awareness about OIA services through tabling and stakeholder meetings.
  • Contribute to OIA social media accounts.
  • Provide project support to International Student Success Initiatives.

Event & Program Planning and Management (40%)

  • Plan and execute cross-cultural scholar & student activities within budget.
  • Facilitate weekly InternationaliTEA gatherings.
  • Lead the ISCORE program each semester.
  • Provide support to spouses, partners, and dependents of international scholars.
  • Encourage scholars to share their home country's culture and language.

Administrative Responsibilities (10%)

  • Represent OIA on relevant committees.
  • Manage engagement activity budgets and comply with fiscal policies.
  • Report annual activities through an annual Transition & Engagement report.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, international education, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience in event planning, reporting, and presentation.
  • Prior experience working in international or intercultural programs.
  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, International Education, or related field.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Living abroad experience.
  • Experience working with executive-level leadership on deadlines.

Conditions of Employment

  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • Hybrid work structure: May work from home one day per week; required to be on-campus for all other days.
  • Employment Options:
    • Option #1: 25 hours per week, year-round.
    • Option #2: 4 x 8-hour days per week (32 hours/week) August through May, with June and July off.
