Job Summary
The CU Book Store in Boulder welcomes applications for the Marketing Coordinator & Graphic Designer position! This role serves as an assistant in the marketing/communication department. Duties include coordinating marketing campaign deliverables and developing and executing social media initiatives including content creation and copywriting, and support of store and campus events.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Marketing Campaign, Project Coordination, Event Deliverables & Special Projects
- Assist in the development of marketing campaigns including text copy/message and selecting products featured/product selection.
- Coordinate scheduling for consistent messaging across various platforms.
- Work in various marketing platforms to load and schedule emails, schedule social media, digital screen content, etc.
- Track deadlines and ensure marketing items are delivered on schedule.
- Brainstorm with and bring new promotional ideas to the team. Suggest ways of tailoring messages and delivery channels based on the targeted audience.
- Manage discounts in the ERP system; coordinate and track to avoid conflicts; assist with campus department coupon requests (e.g., Admissions). Track coupon usage and results.
- Coordinate signage needs and placement as needed for regular store business and special events both in-store and around campus.
- Place items such as candy or enter-to-wins on the sales floor according to schedule.
- Organize prizes for events and contact prize winners and arrange for prize pick-ups.
- Write and edit copy for the website, video scripts, etc.
- Collect data on the performance of specific communications or campaigns.
- Assist the Marketing Director with special projects.
- Maintain brand standards.
- Coordinate with buyers & the web team on hot market product and receiving related product images.
- Manage in-store special event details as assigned. Brainstorm and suggest new ideas.
- Produce store signs as requested/needed.
Social Media Content Development and Management
- Assist in the management of social media initiatives across a variety of platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
- Manage the social media Student Ambassador program.
- Create original, audience-centered, engaging social media content and suggest and implement new ideas in partnership with the bookstore team.
- Write and edit social media copy.
- Take photographs, record reels, and design other content for social media.
- Understand the ever-changing social media landscape and how to adapt tactics rapidly.
- Answer questions, reply to comments, and engage in conversation on social media. Connect and engage with other university accounts via comments, shares, etc.
- Be available to post for special events/game wins during non-business hours.
- Collect data on the performance of social media content.
Marketing/Advertising Design and Photography
- Coordinate and photograph lifestyle photoshoots as assigned or needed for social media. Prepare clothing, arrange for models, plan shot lists, and locations.
- Design marketing/advertising materials as assigned. This may include store signs, emails, website banners, digital screen images, etc.
- Ensure items/materials are produced to the appropriate standards & specifications. Follow documentation due dates for all forms of communication.
Other Duties
- Hire and train student employees as needed, complete related supervision duties.
- Direct student work and projects as needed.
- Serve as a backup for the Lead Graphic Designer/Photographer as needed.
- Attend various information fairs and campus events representing the store.
- Design signs, social media content, etc. as assigned.
- Process donation requests.
- Assist with and prep for lifestyle photo shoots as assigned.
- Organize marketing items including merchandise for donation, sign holders, etc.
- Keep skills and knowledge up to date on software programs, etc.
- Run special errands on-campus & be available for other duties as assigned.
What You Should Know
- This position is 5 days/week, 8 hours/day, Monday - Friday. Work occurs between the business hours of 7:30 AM to 5 PM.
- Some nights/weekends and holidays are required during our busy times.
- This position offers a hybrid work modality, with the ability to work remotely 1-2 days per week.
What We Can Offer
- The salary range is $58,200 to $63,000 annually.

What We Require
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, graphic design, or related field.
- One (1) plus years of experience producing social media content and graphic work.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Ability to work to a deadline and handle last-minute requests.
What You Will Need
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong skill set working with social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest and overall social media marketing.
- Knowledgeable about college sports including football and basketball.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud: Illustrator, Photoshop.
- Ability to use a Canon camera for basic photography.
- Canva design experience.
