Join Information Strategy and Services (ISS) as our Senior Database Administrator, where you'll play a key role in designing, maintaining, and optimizing our campus data warehouse and analytics platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deploy and manage Azure SQL databases in both operational and analytical environments.
- Monitor database health, performance, and security and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data modelers, and engineers to support data lake, business intelligence and analytic needs.
- Create and manage database objects (schemas, tables, views, procedures).
- Investigate, diagnose and remediate databases by recommending indexes, partitions, and other techniques to optimize data structures and improve query performance.
- Participate in database migrations and refresh non-production environments with production data.
- Assist in developing automation strategies and techniques for deployment and management.
- Develop and maintain documentation for databases and cloud configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Contribute to cloud native backup, fail-over, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Support production on-call rotation for database administration.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information systems, or a closely related field.
- 4 years of professional or high-level technical work experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree. An associate's degree with two years of relevant work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.
- Senior Level: 2 years of MS SQL Server Database Administration experience.
- Principal Level: 3-5 years of MS SQL Server Database Administration experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in support of 24x7, five-nines, enterprise production environment.
- Experience in public higher education, state or federal government.
- Operational Data Store, Data Warehouse, Data Lake and/or Business Intelligence ecosystem experience.
- Experience in data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
- Experience in managing an automated database environment via CI/CD Pipelines, API integrations and Terraform Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience in Oracle Database Management Systems 19c and above.

Work Environment
This position offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement. While most responsibilities can be performed remotely, we value in-person collaboration and ask for a minimum on-campus presence once a month, with a preference for three days per week.
