Job Summary

US Tech Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a 36-month contract position in Birmingham, AL. This role involves a hybrid work arrangement, requiring at least 3 days per week in the office. The position supports the Schatz Grid Visualization and Analytics Center (SGVAC) within the client's Research & Development department, focusing on situational awareness technologies for Transmission and Distribution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Grid Operations and Planning Research area.
  • Deploy and evaluate the performance of emerging technologies.
  • Focus on tools for grid operations, including power system analysis, modeling, simulation (digital twins), "big data" analytics, and visualization.
  • Projects may extend to other power system areas.
  • Develop research plans for new technology evaluation.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Document study assumptions and methodologies.
  • Provide reports and presentations on projects.
  • Some overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • 0-6 years of related experience.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE) required.
  • Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation (RTDS, PSCAD, or PSS/E) is mandatory.
  • Specialization in Power Systems is desired.
  • Experience with computer programming (Python, C#, SQL) and data science is a plus.
