Compensation: $180-200K + 20% Bonus

One of Vaco's PE-backed tech clients is looking to bring on a Controller to help the company through a period of heavy transition. Following recent investment and strategic expansion initiatives, they are seeking a hands-on, high-impact Controller to build scalable accounting infrastructure, support M&A activity, and help guide the company through its next phase of growth. Looking for high-level communicators that can interface with the private equity team as well as sales and operations.

Must haves:

• CPA
• M&A experience
• Prior work with private equity sponsors

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support scalability and compliance
• Oversee cash management, treasury activities, and working capital optimization
• Manage external audits, tax filings, and relationships with auditors and third-party advisors
• Partner with executive leadership and private equity stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and reporting requirements
• Prepare board-quality financial reporting packages, KPIs, and operational analytics
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
• Support debt compliance, lender reporting, and financial covenant management
• Support buy-side acquisition activity including financial due diligence, quality of earnings analysis, and integration planning
• Lead post-acquisition accounting integration efforts, including systems, processes, and reporting alignment
• Evaluate and improve accounting infrastructure to support future acquisitions and organizational growth

Process Improvement & Systems

• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve reporting efficiency
• Assist with ERP optimization and implementation initiatives
• Build scalable accounting and reporting capabilities to support rapid company growth

Required

• Active CPA certification required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility
• Prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity within a high-growth environment
• Demonstrated M&A experience, including acquisition integration and due diligence support
• Experience working in a private equity-backed company environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise
