Compensation: $180-200K + 20% Bonus
One of Vaco's PE-backed tech clients is looking to bring on a Controller to help the company through a period of heavy transition. Following recent investment and strategic expansion initiatives, they are seeking a hands-on, high-impact Controller to build scalable accounting infrastructure, support M&A activity, and help guide the company through its next phase of growth. Looking for high-level communicators that can interface with the private equity team as well as sales and operations.
Must haves:
- CPA
- M&A experience
- Prior work with private equity sponsors
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support scalability and compliance
- Oversee cash management, treasury activities, and working capital optimization
- Manage external audits, tax filings, and relationships with auditors and third-party advisors
- Partner with executive leadership and private equity stakeholders to support strategic initiatives and reporting requirements
- Prepare board-quality financial reporting packages, KPIs, and operational analytics
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Support debt compliance, lender reporting, and financial covenant management
- Support buy-side acquisition activity including financial due diligence, quality of earnings analysis, and integration planning
- Lead post-acquisition accounting integration efforts, including systems, processes, and reporting alignment
- Evaluate and improve accounting infrastructure to support future acquisitions and organizational growth
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve reporting efficiency
- Assist with ERP optimization and implementation initiatives
- Build scalable accounting and reporting capabilities to support rapid company growth
Required
- Active CPA certification required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility
- Prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity within a high-growth environment
- Demonstrated M&A experience, including acquisition integration and due diligence support
- Experience working in a private equity-backed company environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise
