Role Overview

We are hiring a Senior-Level Data Scientist for a healthcare client. This is a 100% remote contract position (1 year+) for candidates based in the USA (EST or CST preferred).

  • Pay: $85-100/hr W2 (DOE)
  • Note: No 3rd parties, no C2C, and the company cannot provide sponsorship. Quarterly travel is required.

This role focuses on developing unique, data-driven products and solving complex analytics problems. You will report directly to the Director of Data Science.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Extract, analyze, and interpret data from various sources.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to select features and build optimized models.
  • Preprocess structured and unstructured data.
  • Enhance data collection processes to improve analytic capabilities.
  • Cleanse, validate, and ensure data integrity.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
  • Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
  • Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Propose data-driven solutions to business challenges.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Business and IT teams.
  • Build impactful data visualizations to highlight opportunities and drive performance.
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to define problems and iterate on solutions.
  • Foster a culture of continuous, data-driven improvement.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Comply with all Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and insurance regulations.

Qualifications & Competencies

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics or data science.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with SQL and database technologies (Hive preferred; Pig is a plus).
  • Familiarity with Scala, Java, or C++ is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods (regression, distributions, hypothesis testing, etc.).
  • Experience with machine learning techniques (e.g., k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, decision forests).
  • Solid foundation in mathematics (linear algebra, multivariable calculus).
  • Expertise in data wrangling and preprocessing.

Tools & Technologies

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, ggplot, D3.js).
  • Hands-on experience with modern data science tools and platforms.

  • Strong storytelling and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex findings for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Business acumen and strategic thinking.
