Job Summary

The Business Architect is a strategic leader for the Marketing and Finance Technology team within the Resort Application Development (RAD) department. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and project delivery leadership to shape solution approaches that align business goals with scalable technology capabilities. With a strong focus on collaboration and business‑focused architectural thinking, the Business Architect helps teams navigate ambiguity, aligns stakeholders around clear business outcomes, and ensures that solutions are shaped and delivered in a cohesive, value‑driven manner. This position reports to the Director of Marketing and Finance on RAD.

  • Starting Wage: $107,222.17 - $145,023.62 + annual bonus

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate alignment on solution scope, business requirements, and success metrics by quickly understanding evolving business needs and constraints.
  • Apply big‑picture, business‑architectural thinking to solution analysis—rapidly learning new processes and systems to break down complex or ambiguous problems into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Conduct gap analyses and outline phased delivery options that balance business value, timing, and operational impacts.
  • Serve as a trusted subject matter expert, communicating solution recommendations clearly and enabling informed decision‑making for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Build strong, cross‑functional relationships to drive alignment, share context, and ensure cohesive, value‑driven delivery practices.
  • Collaborate on assessment materials, presentations, and documentation that support clarity and consistency across the team.
  • Guide delivery teams through ambiguity by helping identify risks, explore solution paths, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to SDLC standards and meet compliance requirements, including SOX and PCI.
  • Partner with fellow Business Architects to continuously improve assessment methods, analysis practices, and team‑wide ways of working within RAD.

  • Mentor business analysts by fostering curiosity, supporting development, and encouraging strong business‑architecture thinking.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in agile custom software delivery in a Business Analyst or Business Architect role, including 3+ years at a senior level.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new business processes and systems, with strong skills in requirements gathering, documentation, and process analysis.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across cross‑functional business and technology teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge conversations between technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Visio, PowerPoint, Jira, Confluence, and prototyping tools.
  • Experience with backend development concepts and technologies (e.g., .NET) and working knowledge of SQL.
  • Ability to independently organize assessments, manage multiple concurrent efforts, and drive clarity in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience working with digital systems, marketing technology, mobile applications, or e‑commerce platforms (preferred).

Work Environment

Vail Resorts offers a 'Hybrid' work environment where employees living within 50 miles of the Broomfield office work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays. Employees living outside of a commutable distance can work remotely from British Columbia, Washington D.C., and the 16 U.S. states in which we currently operate.
