About the Company
Our client, a well-established international logistics and freight forwarding company, is seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Executive -- Ocean Export to support and grow its export business in the United States. This is a fully remote position, ideally based in the Southeast or Midwest region. You will join a growing U.S. sales team of experienced professionals, working in a collaborative and performance-driven environment.
About the Role
The Sales Executive will be responsible for driving ocean export sales growth, with a focus on the lumber and wood products industry, including logs, timber, and lumber shipments. This is a specialized and highly competitive niche within international freight forwarding. The ideal candidate is a mid-level professional with approximately 5 years of experience, a solid understanding of export logistics, and an existing client portfolio capable of generating consistent shipment volumes.
Responsibilities
- Focus on sales growth, primarily in export business
- Manage and develop ocean export shipments within the lumber/wood products sector
- Maintain and expand an existing book of business (target: consistent monthly container volume)
- Achieve volume targets (minimum expectation: ~1,000 containers per year)
- Develop new business opportunities while maintaining strong client relationships
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure service excellence and customer satisfaction
- Travel as needed to visit clients, attend trade shows, and support business development
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity
Qualifications
- Minimum 4--6 years of experience in freight forwarding sales, preferably in ocean export
- Experience in the lumber/wood export industry strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to handle significant shipment volumes (high-volume candidates preferred)
- Existing book of business is required (international client base preferred)
- Strong knowledge of export processes, logistics, and Incoterms
- Self-driven and able to work independently in a fully remote environment
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events
- Professional, client-facing attitude and strong communication skills

Pay range and compensation package
- Base salary: $60,000 -- $70,000, based on experience.
- Uncapped commission structure based on volume and profitability.
