Job Summary

Van Horn Law Group is seeking a highly detail-oriented Bankruptcy Filing Paralegal specializing in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 schedules. This remote position is ideal for individuals who excel at preparing accurate, well-organized, and filing-ready bankruptcy schedules, enjoy working with financial information, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Our streamlined process allows you to focus on schedule preparation and issue identification, collaborating with attorneys to finalize cases.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare bankruptcy schedules, statements, means tests, and related filing documents for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases.
  • Review pre-collected client documents, including pay stubs, bank statements, tax returns, credit reports, mortgage information, vehicle documents, and other supporting materials.
  • Work directly with attorneys to finalize filings before submission.
  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies, exemption issues, income concerns, asset questions, creditor issues, and other red flags.
  • Make revisions and amendments to schedules as needed.
  • Ensure filings are accurate, complete, and compliant with court and firm requirements.
  • Manage assigned files efficiently in a high-volume environment.
  • Maintain clear notes and case status updates in the firm's case management system.

Qualifications

  • Prior bankruptcy experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with numbers, income calculations, assets, liabilities, expenses, and financial disclosures.
  • Ability to manage multiple files in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organized, reliable, and process-driven.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working remotely and staying accountable to deadlines.
  • Ability to follow firm procedures and produce consistent, high-quality work.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience preparing Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy schedules.
  • Prior experience in a consumer bankruptcy law firm.
  • Familiarity with bankruptcy petition preparation software and electronic filing systems.
  • Experience reviewing pay advices, tax returns, bank statements, credit reports, and financial documents.
  • Experience preparing Chapter 13 plans is a plus.

Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience, bankruptcy knowledge, productivity, and accuracy. Performance-based increases may be available for team members who consistently produce high-quality work and meet productivity expectations.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
