The Opportunity
WSF is seeking a Coatings and Steel Program Manager to lead critical vessel preservation efforts that support the long-term safety, reliability, and performance of the fleet. This position serves as the technical expert for coating systems and steel preservation, overseeing complex maintenance and repair projects.
What to Expect
- Lead annual ship condition surveys to assess coating systems and steel condition.
- Analyze corrosion and coating data to support repair planning and capital planning.
- Coordinate preservation work with Port Engineers and maintenance facilities during vessel layups.
- Maintain fleet-wide coating and steel condition records.
- Oversee contractor work to ensure compliance with specifications, schedules, and budgets.
- Supervise inspectors, manage contract administration, and negotiate change orders.
- Develop technical specifications, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
- Provide technical guidance and training to vessel crews and maintenance staff.
Qualifications
- Marine Project Management: Ability to manage complex marine maintenance, repair, and overhaul projects.
- Industrial Coating Systems Expertise: Knowledge of industrial coating systems, surface preparation standards (SSPC/NACE/AMPP), and application methods.
- Steel Preservation and Welding Knowledge: Understanding of shipboard structural steel repair, welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW), and codes (AWS D1.1, ABS Rules).
- Contract Administration: Experience with public sector contracting, specification development, and contractor performance management.
- Vessel Surveying and Inspection: Experience conducting vessel condition surveys and inspections.
- Technical Communication: Ability to communicate complex information to diverse stakeholders.
