About the Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Network Engineer for their Carrier Engineering Services team. This team focuses on engineering highly available, resilient transport networks that incorporate a vast portfolio of services to business partners across the Wells Fargo footprint. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead in Carrier and large enterprise Network and Telecom infrastructure environments, with financial industry experience being preferable.
  • Partner on all circuit-related projects and issues, both internally (technical, operational, managerial levels) and externally with carrier service providers.
  • Analyze transport networks from both technical and financial perspectives.
  • Relate and define financials to technical solutions, with deep expertise in RFI/RFQ/RFP creation and scoring.
  • Develop business cases and plans.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Procurement/Supply Chain in driving carrier MSAs, service and pricing schedules, and technologies.
  • Act as a trainer, leader, and mentor to internal team members to elevate Carrier Engineering expertise.
  • Conduct technology and network assessments, including solutions to enhance or create new business opportunities and integrating multiple technologies into the Wells Fargo network.
  • Serve as an SME consultant to internal clients and technical management in all areas of Telecom.
  • Aid in the research and documentation of industry best practices.
  • Consult with technical groups, users, and/or vendors to identify and influence functional specifications and business/technical requirements.
  • Consult in the forecasting of carrier network traffic and capacity.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of Network Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 5 years of telecommunications experience in designing, pricing, implementing, provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting Carrier Class Transport environments.
  • Wide range of carrier-class network experience with network transport interfaces, including both analog and optical delivery methods.
  • Broad understanding of optical theory, transport technologies, and the operation of optical transport systems (including OTN, DWDM, ROADM).
  • Proven experience and demonstrated knowledge of colocation facilities and/or third-party data centers.
  • Thorough knowledge of Carrier technologies such as MPLS and switched Ethernet.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills for a wide audience.
  • Subject matter expert level in Layer 1 protocols and transport platforms.
  • Subject matter expert on Transport facilities, design, construction, and support.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead highly complex carrier-class network initiatives end-to-end with broad enterprise impact.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and driving outcomes in a matrixed, regulated environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a strong team environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of carrier footprints, product offerings, platform hierarchy, and financials associated with telecom services.
  • Solid knowledge and experience in transport systems, access planning, and capacity management.
  • Understanding of different aggregation models used by Telecom Carriers (MPLS, OTN, ISP).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of circuit design and provisioning by Telecom Carriers.
  • International design/carrier experience is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct transport-related technology updates, network assessments, and carrier facilities reviews (including colocation) to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Relevant Optical Network certifications, such as Nokia or Ciena Optical Certification (Advanced), MEF Carrier Ethernet Certification, ETA Fiber Optic (CFOS-O or CFOT).

Job Expectations

  • Ability to work a hybrid work schedule: 3 days a week on-site/in office and 2 days a week remote.

Pay Range

The base pay range offered for this position is $119,000.00 - $187,000.00. Pay may vary based on factors such as demonstrated prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
