Role
We are seeking an experienced CPA to provide strategic oversight of our accounting and financial reporting functions. This is not a bookkeeping or staff accounting role. Our day-to-day accounting is performed by an outsourced accounting firm. We are looking for someone who can own and manage financial reporting, oversee the accounting process, coordinate audits and year end tax reporting. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to management.

Position Details
- Approximately 15 hours per week
- $100/hour

Responsibilities
- Oversee and review work performed by our outsourced accounting firm
- Review monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Coordinate annual audits and support tax reporting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and oil & gas accounting standards
- Advise management on accounting policies and financial reporting matters
- Review accounting for acquisitions, revenue, and other oil & gas transactions
- Recommend process improvements as the company grows
Qualifications
- Active CPA license highly preferred
- 5--10 years of accounting experience
- Oil & gas accounting experience required
- Experience with mineral and royalty interests or non-operated working interests strongly preferred
- Experience in public accounting, industry accounting, or a combination of both
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and audit coordination
- Comfortable working independently in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
