About the Team

Workday Government: Your work matters here. At Workday Government, we focus on outcomes that serve a larger mission. Our work supports U.S. federal agencies as they modernize and transform the full employee lifecycle experience and finance operations—so they can operate with greater clarity, accountability, and trust.

About the Role

This role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government which, due to federal government security requirements, mandates that all Workday personnel working on the contracts be United States citizens (naturalized or native).

Workday Government LLC seeks a Senior Technical Project Manager (TPM) to drive large-scale, complex, cross-functional technical initiatives for our growing Federal business, collaborating with executive leadership and technology teams on engineering, security, and operations for enterprise growth.

The TPM will coordinate critical initiatives, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and combine strong program management with technical fluency to engage engineering and provide clear executive insights.

About You

This role may require a security clearance at the TS/SCI w/CI Poly level. Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance. An active TS/SCI w/CI Poly is preferred.

You are a highly organized, technically fluent program leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments, managing ambiguity, aligning stakeholders, and driving execution. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the integrating master schedule, as well as monitoring and mitigating project risks and dependencies.

May be required to be on site at client locations in the DC, MD, and VA (DMV) area.

Key Competencies

  • Build strong relationships and trust.
  • Balance detail attention with outcome focus.
  • Proactively remove blockers and accelerate progress.

  • 10+ years in technical project management (engineering or TPM) on visible, large-scale, cross-functional federal/public sector initiatives.
  • 5+ years experience leading SaaS development, migrations, and business/compliance/process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, cloud environments, system architecture, and security.
  • Proven ability to manage dependencies, risks, priorities, and timelines across multiple teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with technical, non-technical, executive teams, partners, and customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working independently to design, plan, and execute technical projects.
  • Experience managing the lifecycle of a complex cross-functional program.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience in SaaS or platform engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience in regulated/compliance-driven environments (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST, CMMC, SOC 2).
  • PMP, PgMP, or Agile certifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira/Confluence.
