Job description

📍 Remote - USA Only | Strong Preference for Selected Midwest States 🧳 Travel: 10% annually

Overview

Join a team that's redefining mechanical innovation in the oil and gas sector. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll lead the design, optimization, and validation of advanced mobile mechanical systems that power drilling, completions, well intervention, and field operations. This role blends hands-on engineering with creative problem-solving—perfect for an engineer who thrives on turning complex challenges into reliable, high-performance solutions.

  • Location: Remote within the Midwest (MN, WI, IL, IA, MO, KS, TX, OK, AR, LA)
  • Travel: 10% annually to customer sites and fabrication facilities
  • Industry: Industrial, Petrochemical, and Heavy Equipment Systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop: Engineer mobile mechanical systems for oil and gas applications—hydraulic equipment, mobile lifting systems, and field-service machinery.
  • Optimize Performance: Enhance reliability and efficiency for high-pressure, high-load, and high-cycle environments.
  • Model and Draw: Create detailed CAD models and drawings using Inventor (preferred), Pro-E, or SolidWorks.
  • Prototype and Validate: Test and refine equipment to meet API, ASME, and internal quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and Improve: Diagnose field issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement in system performance.
  • Collaborate and Lead: Work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and field teams to deliver robust, field-ready solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for oil & gas or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, Pro-E, SolidWorks).
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, power units, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from concept through deployment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Why Join Us

  • Work remotely while staying connected to the dynamic energy sector.
  • Collaborate with a forward-thinking engineering team driving innovation in field-deployed machinery.
  • Competitive compensation, travel flexibility, and opportunities to lead high-impact projects.

Benefits

We value our team's well-being and offer a robust benefits package to support your professional and personal growth:

  • Competitive Compensation: An attractive base salary and Retention and Performance bonuses, commensurate with experience.
