Legal Claims Professional - Financial Lines

Job Summary

Zurich is seeking a Legal Claims Professional to join our growing Management Solutions group. Role and Responsibilities

The Claims Professional will manage public company D&O, fiduciary liability, and potentially transactional liability claims of moderate to high complexity with limited supervision. Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing complaints, legal pleadings, discovery, and arbitration demands.
• Conducting coverage analysis and determining exposure.
• Setting appropriate reserves.
• Resolving claims in accordance with Best Practices and within authority limits.
• Communicating regularly with customers and brokers.
• Potentially handling claims dedicated to specific accounts.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Analyze coverage, liability, damages, and exposure.
• Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
• Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial letters.
• Notify Underwriters of claim issues.
• Prepare case summary reports for significant reserve increases and trial preparation.
• Direct and manage the activities of defense counsel.
• Analyze risk and minimize exposure.
• Strategically direct claims towards timely and appropriate resolutions.

Work Model

This model allows employees to work remotely for individual tasks while encouraging in-person collaboration when beneficial. While flexibility is key, occasional in-office attendance is expected. The selected candidate should be prepared to work a hybrid schedule from our offices in Manhattan, NY; Parsippany, NJ; or Schaumburg, IL.

Basic Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
• 5+ years of experience in the legal field.
• 5+ years of legal practice experience specifically in the insurance area.
• Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s).
• Experience in insurance claims and the insurance legal/regulatory environment.
• Negotiation experience.
• Customer service experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Member of the Bar.
• Claims handling experience, including Public D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, and/or insurance coverage defense.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to multitask effectively.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Experience collaborating across different work groups.
• Relevant insurance designations (e.g., SCLA, CPCU, AIC).

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for this position ranges from $135,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually, with eligibility for a 15% short-term incentive bonus. Pay is determined by role, location, skills, and experience, adhering to local laws for fair compensation. Zurich offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, bonuses, and merit increases.
