Job Summary
The Venmo Data Infrastructure team supports Venmo's internal and customer-impacting data movements and message streaming infrastructure. We are looking for a skilled engineer to design, implement, and operate secure, scalable, and reliable data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate data infrastructure to provide a secure, scalable, and performant platform.
- Automate provisioning, management, and monitoring solutions.
- Build and implement scalable data pipeline architecture and message streaming solutions (e.g., AWS SQS, Apache Kafka).
- Build tools to help users leverage data for actionable insights.
- Collaborate with Executive, Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams on technical issues and infrastructure needs.
- Process, extract, and manage relational and NoSQL databases.
- Create large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in software development or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience operating on-prem/cloud databases, data warehouses, and/or distributed systems 24x7x365.
- Experience with message streaming solutions (AWS SQS, Apache Kafka).
- Hands-on experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions from AWS.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (AWS CLI, CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet).
- Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, Java, Bash, Lambda, API GW).
- Experience with big data operations (AWS S3, DMS, EKS, Apache Spark, Glue).
- Strong communication skills.
Compensation and Location
- San Jose, CA: $143,500 - $212,850 annually.
- Austin, TX: $130,500 - $193,600 annually.
- Additional compensation may include annual performance bonuses, equity, or other incentives.
