Senior DevOps Engineer - Data Infra

Job Summary

The Venmo Data Infrastructure team supports Venmo's internal and customer-impacting data movements and message streaming infrastructure. We are looking for a skilled engineer to design, implement, and operate secure, scalable, and reliable data infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate data infrastructure to provide a secure, scalable, and performant platform.
• Automate provisioning, management, and monitoring solutions.
• Build and implement scalable data pipeline architecture and message streaming solutions (e.g., AWS SQS, Apache Kafka).
• Build tools to help users leverage data for actionable insights.
• Collaborate with Executive, Product, Engineering, and Analytics teams on technical issues and infrastructure needs.
• Process, extract, and manage relational and NoSQL databases.
• Create large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in software development or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience operating on-prem/cloud databases, data warehouses, and/or distributed systems 24x7x365.
• Experience with message streaming solutions (AWS SQS, Apache Kafka).
• Hands-on experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions from AWS.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (AWS CLI, CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet).
• Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, Java, Bash, Lambda, API GW).
• Experience with big data operations (AWS S3, DMS, EKS, Apache Spark, Glue).
• Strong communication skills.

Compensation and Location

• San Jose, CA: $143,500 - $212,850 annually.
• Austin, TX: $130,500 - $193,600 annually.
• Additional compensation may include annual performance bonuses, equity, or other incentives.
