Job description

Akra Field is a mobile app that digitizes field operations for commercial construction—daily reports, safety forms, T&M tickets, coordination, and messaging. It replaces the paper that foremen fill out by hand every day.

It's not an idea. It's live in production on the App Store and Google Play, with real subcontractors and a general contractor using it daily on a $150M hospital project. It was built by a working general foreman with 10 years in the field, which is why it actually fits how job sites run instead of how an office imagines they run.

We're small (founder + one developer) and growing. This role is a contract position to start, with a clear path to founding engineer for the right person as we lock in paying pilots.

What you'd work on

  • New features across the app: analytics dashboards, blueprint markup, inventory tracking, a custom form builder
  • Real-time data and offline sync that has to hold up on a job site with bad signal
  • Push notifications, PDF generation, photo handling
  • Keeping a live pilot stable while we ship—real users, zero tolerance for breaking their day

What we're looking for

  • Strong React Native Expo experience (EAS Build, EAS Update / OTA)
  • Solid Firebase: Firestore, Cloud Functions, Auth, Storage
  • TypeScript
  • Someone who ships, tests on real devices, and can own a feature end to end with light direction

How we work

  • Remote, async-friendly. We move fast but we test before anything touches pilot users.
  • Feature branches → preview build → tested on physical devices → production. No cowboy pushes to live.
  • Contract / hourly to start. If it's a fit, we talk about bringing you on as a founding engineer with equity.

To apply

Send a short note on what you've shipped in React Native Firebase, ideally something live we can look at.
