We are a client-focused firm that works to deepen relationships and deliver first-class service to the individuals, families, and corporations we work with.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Director to lead new client acquisition and strategic growth for our fund administration practice. This remote role will target alternative asset managers across venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, private credit and real estate, positioning our fund administration and fund accounting solutions to win and retain complex mandates. The role combines consultative sales, product and pricing collaboration, and relationship management; frequent travel to client meetings, industry conferences, and on-site visits will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a targeted business development strategy to grow fund administration revenue across alternative asset managers (VC, PE, hedge funds, private credit, real estate).
- Identify, qualify and manage a sales pipeline of prospective clients, including GPs, family offices and institutional LPs, through CRM and structured sales processes.
- Lead client engagements, including discovery, solution design, proposal development, pricing, and contract negotiations for fund administration and fund accounting services.
- Create and respond to RFPs, draft commercial proposals, and customize service offerings for complex fund structures (master-feeder, SMA, alternative fund structures).
- Partner with fund operations, product, accounting and legal teams to ensure proposed solutions are deliverable, compliant and aligned with internal capabilities.
- Drive cross-sell opportunities for complementary services (SaaS fund platforms, fund operations, fund reporting, investor services) and collaborate with marketing to execute targeted campaigns and thought leadership.
- Represent the firm at industry events, conferences and client sites; host client workshops and deliver persuasive presentations and demonstrations.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasting, pipeline reporting and performance metrics; provide market feedback to influence product roadmap and pricing strategies.
- Mentor and collaborate with junior BD and sales operations team members to scale go-to-market efforts and improve win rates.
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of business development or sales experience within fund administration, fund accounting, alternative investments or related financial services.
- Proven track record of closing enterprise-level fund administration engagements and meeting revenue targets.
- Deep knowledge of fund administration, fund accounting practices and alternative investment structures, including experience with master-feeder, SMA and other alternative fund structures.
- Strong sales skills and consultative selling experience; ability to develop commercial proposals, negotiate complex contracts and manage long sales cycles.
- Experience working with or selling to venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, private credit and real estate managers (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity with fund operations, investor reporting, LP/GP dynamics, and operational onboarding processes.
- Experience with SaaS fund platforms or technology-enabled fund administration solutions is highly desirable (SaaS Fund).
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-management skills, with a client-focused approach and high emotional intelligence.
- Comfortable with significant travel (typically up to 40% as needed) and working remotely across time zones.
- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, business or related field; advanced degree (MBA) or professional certifications such as CFA/CPA are a plus.
- Nice-to-have skills: hands-on experience with venture capital, hedge funds, private credit, real estate, fund operations, Master-Feeder structures, Separately Managed Accounts (SMA), alternative asset/fund structures, Order of Draw (OOD) concepts, LP/GP negotiations, private equity and SaaS fund solutions.
