About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer to join our fully cloud-based operations. This role is crucial for building reliable systems, reducing developer friction, and continuously improving our cloud operations. You will work directly on systems supporting customer-facing applications, focusing on scaling, reliability, and deployment simplification.

This is a highly interactive role, not just monitoring dashboards. You will be expected to be part of an on-call rotation to ensure system stability, with a focus on shared ownership and sustainability. Security is paramount and integrated into all aspects of the role, from infrastructure design to deployment workflows.

What You Will Do

This position bridges engineering and infrastructure, focusing on enhancing system reliability, streamlining deployments, and enabling faster, more controlled team velocity.

AWS Environment Management

• Own and improve our AWS infrastructure, primarily utilizing EKS, ECS, and Lambda.
• Design, maintain, and evolve the architecture to support continued scaling.

Infrastructure as Code

• Utilize Terraform and CloudFormation to build and maintain consistent, repeatable environments, treating infrastructure as software.

CI/CD and Release Workflows

• Manage and automate deployments using Jenkins and custom tooling, with a focus on simplifying and automating the path to production.

Observability and Reliability

• Enhance system monitoring and understanding using tools like Datadog, PagerDuty, ELK, or Splunk to minimize surprises and expedite recovery.

Security and Best Practices

• Integrate security into all aspects of system design and deployment to meet availability and security expectations.

AI for Efficiency

• Leverage AI tools to accelerate scripting, troubleshooting, and infrastructure tasks, reducing repetitive work.

Your day-to-day will involve a mix of immediate problem-solving, such as reviewing alerts or troubleshooting issues, and long-term strategic improvements, like automating manual processes, enhancing monitoring, or optimizing service deployments.

• System Stability: Contribute to more stable systems with fewer incidents, faster recovery times, and improved platform visibility.
• Reduced Manual Effort: Drive automation in deployments and operations, freeing up DevOps and engineering teams from repetitive tasks.
• Infrastructure Consistency: Promote cleaner, more standardized, and repeatable deployments through the use of Terraform and CloudFormation.

How You Will Grab Our Attention

• Kubernetes (EKS) Expertise: Proven experience troubleshooting production Kubernetes environments, including networking, scaling, and issue resolution.
• AWS Experience: Approximately 3+ years of hands-on AWS experience, with a deep understanding of production system behavior beyond basic resource provisioning.
• Scripting/Programming Skills: Proficiency in languages such as Python, Go, or JavaScript for automation and problem-solving.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively and partner with engineers, product teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
