About the Role
GP Strategies Government Solutions is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator for a six-month, full-time, 100% remote temporary position, with the potential to transition into a long-term role. You will support secure, scalable, cloud-first infrastructure within a regulated government contracting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and optimize secure AWS GovCloud environments aligned with NIST 800-171/800-53, CMMC Level 2, ITAR/EAR, and FedRAMP requirements.
- Engineer and maintain highly available, fault-tolerant, multi-account cloud architectures.
- Administer and harden Linux and Windows systems in production cloud environments.
- Implement cloud-native monitoring, logging, and alerting for proactive system optimization.
- Automate infrastructure and operations using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, PowerShell, and Bash.
- Support enterprise data platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.) and cloud-native services.
- Design and enforce security-first practices, including Zero Trust principles, IAM governance, and network segmentation.
- Manage cloud networking, DNS, certificate management, and secure hybrid integrations.
- Collaborate across IT and security teams to support a cloud-first, remote organization.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on infrastructure and cloud engineering experience in regulated AWS GovCloud environments.
- 3+ years in senior engineering or technical leadership roles.
- Proven expertise in cloud networking, SaaS administration, and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of AI concepts applied to cloud infrastructure and automation.
- Extensive experience with compliance frameworks (NIST 800-171, NIST 800-53, CMMC L2, ITAR/EAR, FedRAMP).
- Strong background in secure remote, cloud-first operations.
- Must be a U.S. person with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD/DoD security clearance (Public Trust preferred).
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

- Cloud: AWS GovCloud, IAM, VPC, EC2, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, Security Hub, EKS/ECS.
- Systems: Windows Server, Active Directory, RHEL/Rocky Linux, Amazon Linux, Linux hardening.
- Automation: Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Git.
- Security: Zero Trust, CIS benchmarks, vulnerability remediation, SIEM, Cisco Umbrella.
- Data: Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redshift, DynamoDB, OpenSearch.
- Microsoft: M365 GCC High, Azure Government, Entra ID, Intune, Defender XDR.
