About HomeHudl
HomeHudl is a PropTech startup redefining the real estate experience through dynamic matching technology. We are moving away from traditional search and toward an intelligent, data-driven "match" between users and agents. We are building a high-performance platform that demands reliable architecture across multiple repositories --- and we need help keeping it healthy and well-integrated as we push toward our MVP launch.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-potential Backend / Full-Stack Intern to ship production code into our Node.js API and data layers while helping manage and optimize our active multi-repository ecosystem. Working directly with our Dev Lead and Project Manager, you'll sit at the seam between our Node.js backend and our TypeScript / Next.js frontend. This is a "roll-up-your-sleeves" role for someone who cares as much about code health and clean integrations as they do about shipping new features.
What You Will Do
- Backend Architecture: Maintain and scale our backend --- API routes, controllers, and custom middleware.
- Enterprise Integrations: Own and maintain our Stripe subscription system and DocuSign legal paperwork flows.
- Data Layer Audits: Support the Dev Lead in reconciling legacy Firebase integrations with upcoming Supabase / PostgreSQL schema milestones.
- Repo & Pipeline Health: Partner with the Dev Lead on code health, environment-variable security, Vercel deployment pipelines, and code reviews enforcing strict TypeScript standards.
- Cross-Repo Debugging: Debug and optimize cross-repo data flows, API routes, and state management.
- AI-Accelerated Workflows: Use Claude and Claude Code to streamline backend logic, endpoint generation, debugging, and testing.
Who You Are
- Beyond the Basics: You have substantial experience building and deploying back-end services (previous internships or complex open-source contributions).
- Deep Stack Knowledge: You are proficient in Node.js, Express, and JavaScript/TypeScript, with hands-on Firebase and/or PostgreSQL and solid RESTful API design. Familiarity with Next.js (App Router) is a strong plus.
- Integration-Minded: Experience with Stripe / DocuSign APIs is a strong plus.
- Tooling-Forward: Comfortable with GitHub workflows, Agile/Trello tracking, and using Claude / Claude Code to move faster.
- PST Synchronized & Flexible: You are located on the West Coast and available for our mandatory weekly sync on Thursdays from 6:30 PM -- 7:30 PM PST. Outside of this, we offer flexible hours.
- Architectural Thinker: You prioritize reliability, security, reusability, and clean data design.
The Interview Process
- Initial Screening: A thorough review of your GitHub, portfolio, and technical experience to ensure alignment with our stack.
- Remote Technical Deep Dive: A comprehensive video interview including a walkthrough of your previous work, a live logic assessment, and a discussion on vision and culture fit.
Thank you for your time!
