The Manager, IT Project Management works within specific guidelines and procedures; applies advanced technical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems; receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines approach, resources, schedules and goals.
Job Description
The Manager, IT Project Management oversees and drives the successful planning, execution, and delivery of IT Programs/Projects at Humana. This role is responsible for managing a team of project managers, ensuring projects are aligned with organizational objectives, delivered on schedule, and within scope and budget. The manager collaborates with stakeholders across IT, business units, and vendors to foster effective communication, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of IT project managers, provide direction and vision, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategic objectives.
- Manage a portfolio of IT projects, including resource allocation, prioritization, and status reporting.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of a portfolio of projects, ensuring consistency in process, methodology, and quality standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers, supporting their professional growth and performance. Facilitate collaboration, resolve conflicts, and promote a high-performance culture.
- Optimize resource allocation across projects, balancing capacity, skills, and business priorities.
- Institutionalize the project management best practices, including Agile and Lean methodologies. Promote continuous improvement and adoption of the enterprise approved tools or techniques.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for senior stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of project status, risks, and dependencies. Build strong relationships with business, IT, and cross-functional partners.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues across all managed projects. Support escalation and resolution processes.
- Track and report on project and program performance using key metrics. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Guide teams and stakeholders through organizational or process changes, facilitating adoption and minimizing disruption.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks for all projects.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in IT Program/Project management with strong strategic planning, budgeting, and analytical skills
- 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role with the proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing project teams
- 3 years of experience managing Programs and multiple concurrent projects in a large, complex environment.
- 5 years of experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
- 5 years of hand on experience with the tools, and project management platforms (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira Align, ServiceNow)
- 2 years of experience with process optimization, change management, and implementation of best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Agile Certification (SAFe, CSM, or equivalent)
- PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar certification
- Experience in the health care industry & understanding of Medicare/Medicaid domains
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration
- Experience in change management methodologies and frameworks (such as ADKAR, Prosci, or Kotter)
Additional Information
Work Style: This position is remote from any of the locations listed below. You must reside within close proximity to one of these locations.
Market Location Options: Louisville, KY; Dallas/Frisco, TX; Washington DC (Arlington VA); Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Tampa, FL; New York City, NY.

Internet Requirements: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Pay Range: $115,200 - $158,400 per year. This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
