Tester (UAT/QA) -- Remote

📍 Location: Salem, OR (100% Remote -- Must work within the United States)

📅 Duration: 12+ Months Contract

We are seeking an experienced Tester to support a large-scale healthcare technology modernization initiative for a public sector organization. This high-impact project involves the implementation of a new State-Based Marketplace (SBM) platform that will provide citizens with access to health insurance enrollment services through a modern, state-managed technology solution.

This role is ideal for a hands-on QA/UAT professional with strong experience in test planning, test execution, defect management, and stakeholder collaboration within Agile and traditional project environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review business requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria to ensure testability and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain detailed test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test suites.
  • Execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT), functional testing, integration testing, and regression testing activities.
  • Create and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM).
  • Identify, document, and track defects through resolution using industry-standard tools.
  • Collaborate with business users, analysts, developers, and project teams to validate requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Support defect triage sessions and assess business impact, severity, and priority.
  • Prepare and manage test data required for testing activities.
  • Participate in release readiness assessments and provide go/no-go recommendations.
  • Conduct exploratory testing and support bug hunts.
  • Produce testing metrics, status reports, and testing documentation for stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, documentation, and quality assurance best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Software Quality Assurance.
  • Experience throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Proven ability to create comprehensive test cases and execute complex testing scenarios.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar test management and defect tracking tools.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with regression, integration, and functional testing.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG), security testing fundamentals, and performance testing concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in government, healthcare, insurance, or other regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of test automation concepts and tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Robot Framework.
  • Experience with API and web service testing.
  • Experience managing or preparing test data for large-scale enterprise applications.
  • Familiarity with accessibility compliance and digital service testing.
