This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Patient Service Representative - Billing based in the United States.
This role is a key part of a patient-facing clinical operations environment, serving as the primary connection point between patients, care teams, and the healthcare system. With a strong focus on billing support, you will help patients navigate insurance coverage, understand financial responsibilities, and resolve billing-related questions with clarity and empathy.
This position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to directly improve access to care and patient satisfaction in women's health.
Accountabilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding billing inquiries, insurance questions, and payment-related concerns.
- Support patient registration, intake processes, and updates to Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Coordinate with clinical and insurance teams to verify coverage, benefits, and financial obligations prior to appointments.
- Manage and resolve patient cases using support platforms such as Zendesk, ensuring timely and professional responses.
- Assist patients in understanding billing statements, payment options, and healthcare-related financial processes.
- Participate in audits and reviews to identify billing discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving patient experience and optimizing billing workflows.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and strict protection of patient data and PHI.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in customer service or patient-facing support roles with a strong service orientation.
- 1-2 years of billing experience in a healthcare or related environment (preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Zendesk (minimum 2 years).
- Experience working with EMR systems (Athena preferred) and handling patient records.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace tools for documentation, communication, and coordination.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional, empathetic approach.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with a reliable internet connection and quiet workspace.
- Availability to work Monday to Friday, aligned with CST business hours.
