Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a People Operations & System Specialist based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of people operations and HR systems, supporting the full employee lifecycle while ensuring the accuracy, scalability, and efficiency of core HR infrastructure. You will play a key role in delivering seamless employee experiences across onboarding, payroll, benefits, and compliance processes in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

Alongside operational responsibilities, you will act as a primary administrator for key HR systems, ensuring data integrity and continuous process improvement. The position requires someone who is equally comfortable supporting employees directly and managing the backend systems that power HR operations. You will collaborate closely with HR leadership, recruiting, and external vendors to ensure smooth execution of people programs.

Accountabilities

  • Support end-to-end HR operations across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and contractor management.
  • Assist with semi-monthly payroll processing in coordination with external providers or PEO partners.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and support payroll, tax, and compliance-related activities.
  • Serve as a key support partner to People/HR leadership in rolling out new policies, programs, and organizational initiatives.
  • Manage Employer of Record (EOR) systems for international employees and contractors.
  • Support recruiting coordination, including interview scheduling and candidate communication.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve HR processes through automation and system optimization.
  • Act as the primary HRIS administrator for platforms such as BambooHR, Remote, Notion, and Sequoia One.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records while ensuring data integrity across all systems.
  • Generate HR reports and dashboards to support decision-making, compliance, and workforce planning.
  • Conduct regular system audits to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Support HR system enhancements, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in HR, people operations, HRIS administration, or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Hands-on experience managing HRIS platforms and maintaining HR data integrity.
  • Strong understanding of core HR practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with payroll coordination, benefits administration, and HR operations processes.
  • Familiarity with multi-state employment, contractor classification, or EOR systems is a plus.
  • Experience working in or transitioning from a PEO-supported environment is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support employees directly.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced or high-growth environments.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Benefits

  • Competitive annual salary ranging from $60,000 to $80,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • 100% remote work environment within the United States.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSA) for healthcare and dependent care needs.
  • Generous paid time off, floating holidays, and parental leave policies.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Opportunity to work in a mission-driven, high-impact healthcare-focused environment.
  • Exposure to modern HR systems, tools, and scalable people operations practices.
  • Inclusive and collaborative culture focused on learning, transparency, and continuous improvement.
