About the Role:

We are a locally owned small business in California with a team of 10--12 employees seeking a reliable, experienced bookkeeper to help get our financials organized and up to date. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable stepping into an existing system, identifying what needs attention, and bringing everything into order.

What You'll Do:

  • Review and organize financial records for the current year
  • Clean up and maintain books in QuickBooks
  • Reconcile accounts and ensure accuracy for 2026
  • Categorize transactions and prepare basic financial reports
  • Help establish clean, consistent systems moving forward
  • Coordinate with owner as needed

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience with small business bookkeeping
  • Strong QuickBooks knowledge (Online preferred)
  • Ability to independently assess and clean up financial records
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
  • Clear communication and practical problem-solving skills

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with California small business requirements
  • Experience with payroll systems and Calsavers
  • Understanding of depreciation, business assets, or basic tax prep support

Schedule & Pay:

  • Flexible hours
  • Hourly or project-based (DOE)
  • After clean up, continue ongoing steady work

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Work Location: Remote
