Overview

Our client is seeking a Google Cloud Platform Architect to join their team. This is a remote position, but the candidate must be available to work in the CST time zone.

Technical Requirements

  • Core Skills: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) administration, Terraform (Mandatory), Cloud Run, GKE, IAM, Compute VMs, Load Balancers, Memory Stores, Log Analysis, Cloud Storage.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Strong proficiency with Terraform, including module design, state management, workspaces, and CI/CD pipeline integration.
  • GCP Administration: Experience with organization setup, project structure, billing configuration, and policy governance.
  • Security & Compliance: Working knowledge of identity management, encryption controls, and audit logging.
  • Networking: Solid understanding of cloud networking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and operate production workloads on GCP, covering networking, compute, storage, and managed services.
  • Develop reusable Terraform modules to standardize infrastructure provisioning and minimize configuration drift.
  • Implement IaC practices to improve deployment consistency, reduce manual errors, and accelerate secure delivery.
  • Configure and manage IAM policies enforcing least privilege principles.
  • Optimize resource utilization through capacity planning, rightsizing, and proactive monitoring.
  • Lead cloud architecture reviews and provide standards/best practices for platform usage.
  • Handle advanced troubleshooting and escalations.
  • Support application teams to deliver value and eliminate developer friction.
  • Focus on FinOps, cloud disaster recovery, and cyber resiliency.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging GCP services and Terraform ecosystem enhancements.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience designing and operating production workloads on GCP.
  • Proven exposure to hybrid work models with effective remote collaboration.
  • Experience with migration or modernization initiatives transitioning legacy workloads to GCP.
  • Ability to design robust architectures that ensure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
