Communications Specialist (Contract)

Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

Summary:

We are looking for an energetic, creative, and driven social media professional to join a dynamic marketing team supporting one of the most iconic gaming franchises in the world. In this role, you will serve as a key contributor to the social voice of a major gaming Marketplace, partnering across social, influencer, and broader marketing teams to drive awareness, engagement, and community growth across owned social media channels. You will bring a balance of creative instinct and data-driven thinking to everything you do, from shaping social strategies and campaigns to crafting compelling copy and engaging directly with players, brands, and influencers. This is a highly collaborative role that offers significant creative freedom within an established framework, making it an exceptional opportunity for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, culturally connected environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead social planning and execution for Consumer Products partnerships on social media, ensuring alignment with the broader brand voice, social strategy, and business objectives

  • Lead social planning and execution for a dedicated social channel and ensure brand alignment and synergy with the main brand account

  • Partner closely with Consumer Products, Product Marketing, and Integrated Marketing teams to understand priorities, timelines, and success metrics, and translate them into effective social approaches and content plans

  • Serve as a strategic connector between business objectives and creative execution, shaping briefs and recommendations that enable the Creative Team to deliver culturally relevant and highly engaging social content

  • Maintain a strong pulse on culture, platform trends, and creator ecosystems, identifying opportunities to authentically connect cultural moments to Consumer Products

  • Perform day-to-day social operations including content planning, calendar management, copy development, publishing, community engagement, and light moderation, ensuring a high-quality and consistent presence across channels

  • Create, curate, and elevate social content at scale, highlighting creators, user-generated content, and community moments to drive engagement, discovery, and sustained interest

  • Track and interpret social performance across Consumer Products initiatives, contributing to campaign reporting and dashboards while using data and insights to optimize content and demonstrate impact against goals

  • Collaborate with stakeholders through regular meetings and cross-functional communication

  • Support campaign content strategy ideation, collaboration, and implementation including copywriting and publishing as assigned

  • Assist with engagement and moderation duties as needed to support community management efforts

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working at a major game publisher or within the gaming sector

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in social media strategy planning, goal setting, and implementation

  • Experience managing high-volume social media channels for well-known video game publishers, video game equipment manufacturers, or similar organizations within or supporting the gaming sector is required

  • A creative portfolio or previous samples of social media strategy are strongly preferred

  • Previous knowledge of or experience with Minecraft is highly preferred

  • A creative portfolio or samples of previous social media strategy work are strongly encouraged as part of the application process

  • Exceptional knowledge of social media platforms and the ability to stay current with evolving trends and translate them to specific audiences

  • Strong copywriting skills for social media with the ability to adapt tone of voice across different brands and audiences

  • Excellent data analysis and storytelling skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from social performance metrics

  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across cross-functional teams

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to demonstrate social creativity in the context of products and consumer partnerships

  • Experience with analytics tools including Sprinklr and native social media analytics platforms

  • Familiarity with Minecraft and a passion for gaming, particularly knowledge of gaming culture and community dynamics

  • Self-motivated, organized, and adaptable with a go-getter mentality

Additional Details:

  • Location: Remote

  • Duration: 1 month

  • Pay Range*: $44.50 - $50.50 per hour

  • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours

  • Job Status: Non-Exempt
