Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Human Resources Director for a leading and nationally recognized media organization with operations across multiple markets throughout the United States. This is a remote temporary opportunity with potential for temp-to-hire conversion for an experienced HR leader based in California.

Position Overview

The Human Resources Director will provide strategic and operational HR leadership across multiple business locations, supporting approximately 1,800 union and non-union employees. This highly visible role serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and is responsible for driving initiatives related to employee relations, labor relations, performance management, organizational development, compliance, talent management, and workforce planning.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned HR leader who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and enjoys partnering closely with business leaders to support organizational growth, workforce effectiveness, and positive employee relations. This position is fully remote but candidates must reside in California.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic HR leadership across assigned business locations, aligning people strategies with organizational objectives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to executives, managers, and leadership teams
  • Drive performance management, employee development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness initiatives
  • Support both represented and non-represented employee populations across multiple locations
  • Lead employee relations matters, workplace investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution efforts
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field required
  • Advanced degree and/or PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive human resources leadership experience
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations and geographically dispersed workforces
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with senior leaders in complex, fast-paced environments
  • Strong employee relations, labor relations, and organizational development experience
  • Experience supporting unionized workforces strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of California employment law as well as federal employment regulations
  • Previous media, broadcasting, entertainment, or similarly fast-paced industry experience is a plus
  • Must reside in California

Compensation

This position offers a competitive hourly pay rate of $60--$70/hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a temporary assignment with the potential to convert to a permanent position based on organizational needs and performance.
