Social Media Strategist (Freelance)
We are seeking a culturally sharp Freelance Social Media Strategist to lead the development of social media strategies for two exciting beverage brands across Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and Facebook (secondary). We are specifically looking for someone who has an instinctive understanding of how Gen Z audiences consume social content, what earns their attention, and what makes them scroll past.
KEY JOB DETAILS:
- Location: Remote. NYC preferred.
- Employment Type: Freelance, project-based
- Timing: Late May to end of June (The bulk of the work will be needed in early June, with refinements mid-late June)
- Approximately 50 total project hours
- Rate: $80-$100/hour

SCOPE OF WORK:
- Develop a platform-by-platform social media strategy for a new innovations whiskey brand, including defining strategic pillars, content territories, and best practices tailored to the brand and its business objectives.
- Develop a social media strategy for ambassadors of a non-alcoholic mixer brand that outlines best practices and tactics for content creation and posting on the ambassadors' pages.
- Provide channel-specific recommendations, including a defined target audience on social, content formats, posting cadence, community engagement approach, paid media support recommendations, and growth tactics.
- Conduct competitor analysis for each brand across each channel.
- Build tone-of-voice social brand guidelines in collaboration with a copywriter.
- Deliver polished, client-ready presentations to present internally and to client stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with our internal account and creative teams.
YOU MUST HAVE...
- 3-5 years of experience developing social media strategy (not just content execution) for CPG or beverage brands.
- A track record of building social strategies for Gen Z consumers - you know what moves them and what falls flat.
- Demonstrated experience tailoring strategy to distinct brand voices, including both humorous, light-hearted brands and elevated, premium brands.
- Deep platform fluency across Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok, including an understanding of algorithm behavior, format trends, and audience dynamics on each platform.
- Strong presentation skills - you can walk a room through your thinking and defend your recommendations.
- A portfolio or case studies demonstrating past social strategy work.
