The Hire Mark is recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected California workers' compensation defense law firm headquartered in North Hollywood, CA , seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Partner-level Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join their growing team.
Location: Remote (California)
Office: North Hollywood, CA
Travel: Court appearances as needed
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience, plus an extensive performance-based bonus program.
About the Opportunity
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced California Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney who is looking for the flexibility of working remotely while maintaining an active litigation practice.
You'll manage your own caseload, work closely with experienced partners, and enjoy the autonomy of a remote practice with the support of an established and growing defense firm.
The firm offers an aggressive bonus structure that rewards productivity and provides significant earning potential beyond base salary.
Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of California workers' compensation defense matters
- Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators before the California Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB)
- Handle depositions, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, petitions, and other legal documents
- Evaluate liability and exposure while developing litigation strategies
- Negotiate settlements and resolutions on behalf of clients
- Maintain regular communication with clients, claims adjusters, and opposing counsel
- Attend court appearances and hearings throughout California as required
- Mentor junior attorneys when appropriate (Senior Associate/Partner level)
Qualifications
- Active member of the California State Bar
- Minimum 3 years of California Workers' Compensation Defense experience (more experienced candidates strongly encouraged to apply)
- Experience independently managing a workers' compensation defense caseload
- Strong litigation, negotiation, and legal writing skills
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred
- Senior Associate or Partner-level experience
- Established relationships within the California workers' compensation community
- Experience mentoring attorneys or leading legal teams
