Harborview Medical Center's Trauma Program has an outstanding opportunity for a Trauma Registry Abstractor Program Coordinator.

Work Schedule

  • 20 hours per week

Department Description

Harborview has partnered with the US Department of Defense (DOD) to provide trauma-specific training for military healthcare workers. This partnership project is referred to as Mission Zero. The DOD has secured grant funds to help offset the operational costs for institutions participating in Mission Zero.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Identify patients for inclusion into the trauma registry based on Harborview Medical Center and Washington State Department of Health criteria.
  • Identification and entry of all Harborview specific and/or Washington State Department of Health data points into the trauma registry software system.
  • Evaluate specific data fields within the medical record, determine which data is compatible with defined registry requirements, and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Independently identify, troubleshoot, and report suspected documentation or data abstraction errors to Trauma Registry Supervisor.
  • Partner with Abstraction team peers and Registry leadership for continuous process improvement with data abstraction accuracy and workflow efficiency. Emphasis is given to strategic, innovative, resource-conscious solutions.
  • Promptly identify and report clinical care or quality improvement concerns noted during chart abstraction to the Trauma QI Manager for tracking and follow up.
  • Collaborate with Trauma Registry and clinical multidisciplinary team on all concerns regarding registry data collection, state and national submission concerns.
  • Assists with onboarding and mentoring support to new Trauma Registry staff.
  • Serve as resource and content expert to trauma registry staff from referring facilities regarding best practices to meet state and national data abstraction standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $22.28 - $29.77 hourly
