Job description

Senior Bookkeeper/Accounting Technician (Remote)

We are a Chartered Professional Accounting firm offering a variety of professional financial services to support small to medium-sized businesses with a particular focus on full-service solutions. Dedicated to serving our clients through personalized and meaningful interactions, our firm works with a variety of small to mid-sized businesses, primarily in B.C.

As an employer, being a great place to work matters to us. Our philosophy is that work exists to support life, not the other way around, and our team consists only of the best and the brightest. Our style of practice enables us to provide unique opportunities for experienced, highly qualified professionals to work either entirely remotely, entirely in-office, or a combination of both, and to manage their own workflow and schedule.

The Opportunity

The Senior Bookkeeper/Accounting Technician will work in close partnership with our Bookkeeping Services Managers and owner to ensure an exceptional client experience from start to finish. The main responsibilities of this position will be a mixture of bookkeeping for existing clients and onboarding assistance with new clients, but as the firm grows the duties may be expanded to include overall management and follow up of workflow for a number of full-service clients, as well as client communications. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, highly organized accounting professional who possesses a keen eye for detail and a passion for providing the best possible client experience.

It is expected that this position will grow to be full time in nature, but hours of work will initially fluctuate between 20-25 hours/week depending on business needs. The successful candidate can work fully remotely from an established home office from anywhere within Canada.

  • Strong preference towards bookkeepers who have previously worked within a small to mid-sized business themselves
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel skills
  • Post-secondary education in the field of accounting or administration preferred; however, significant experience in lieu of education, or a combination of education/experience, will be considered.

  • Proven ability to problem-solve and present independent solutions
  • Detail-oriented with a proven capability to deliver efficient and accurate results

  • Conduct full cycle bookkeeping
  • Payroll administration, including T4s and ROEs
  • On-time compliance filings of CRA documentation and payments (GST, PST, PD7A)
  • Handle client inquiries, document intake and follow-up communications as required
  • Manage initial customer concerns personally, with escalation of critical issues to the Bookkeeping Services Managers or owner as needed
  • Participate in identifying and implementing best practices, policies and procedures
