Job Summary
Zurich (Schaumburg, IL) is seeking a DB2 Database Engineer to manage the lifecycle of our DB2 on Linux servers. This role involves collaborating with development, platform, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure optimal database support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and maintaining end-to-end automation for deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management of database services.
- Design and implement scalable, reliable, and high-performance database structures aligned with business requirements.
- Develop custom scripts to enhance system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Perform database tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure peak performance and minimize downtime.
- Consult with business personnel, development, and infrastructure teams on the design and support of host systems for client and internal applications.
- Design DB2 solutions, including architecture and deployment processes.
- Provide end-to-end database support for cloud services, including monitoring, incident response, and resolution for Public Cloud Platform environments.
- Offer expertise to troubleshoot issues on public cloud database platforms (Azure) for hosted workloads.
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Azure DevOps and Ansible for automating DB2 build and configuration in cloud environments, establishing build and configuration standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve connection issues for various native clients.
- Lead and mentor junior database administrators, engineers, and developers.
- Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in database management and security.
Remote Work Option
- Option to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.
- Required travel to Schaumburg HQ once per year.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in the job offered, or similar roles such as Cloud Engineer, System Lead (DBA), Senior System Analyst (DBA), Database Administrator, or DB2 Administrator.
Required Experience (5 years each)
- Deploying, monitoring, and managing DB2 server infrastructure.
- Designing and implementing database structures for scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Developing custom scripts for system efficiency and automation.
- Working with Linux operating systems.
- Utilizing SQL, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, and Python for automation.
- Database tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Consulting on the design and support of host systems.
- Designing DB2 solutions, including architecture and deployment.
- Providing end-to-end cloud database support (monitoring, incident response/resolution) for Public Cloud Platform environments.
- Troubleshooting public cloud database platforms (Azure) for hosted workloads.
- Implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Azure DevOps and Ansible for DB2 cloud environments.
- Establishing DB2 build and configuration standards in cloud environments.
- Troubleshooting and solutioning JDBC, ODBC, and native client connections.
- Working with high availability, disaster recovery, and storage concepts.
- Implementing, supporting, and evaluating database security in DB2.

Compensation
The proposed salary range for this position is $157,200. Compensation is influenced by factors such as location, role, skill set, and experience. Zurich is committed to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range.
