Job description

If you're a junior or senior studying business or finance, you've likely noticed the entry-level job market tightening. While traditional paths in banking and consulting are shifting due to AI, the BizDepot M&A Associate Academy offers a defined, paid path to becoming a professional M&A advisor.

About the role

You'll join our Buy-Side Track as a part-time Buy-Side Intern, working on the Insider Network: BizDepot's active database of acquisition buyers, including search funders, family offices, acquisition entrepreneurs, and private equity. You'll work directly with these buyers, alongside our senior team, while you finish your degree.

What you'll do

  • Reach out to past buyer leads in our CRM, including listing inquiries, NDA signers, and CIM recipients, to re-engage them.
  • Run conversations to capture each buyer's acquisition criteria, capital, and timing.
  • Sign qualified buyers into the Insider Network and segment them by industry, geography, and budget.
  • Match active listings to buyers whose criteria fit, and pitch the opportunity.
  • Maintain warm buyer relationships between deals so they come back to BizDepot first.
  • Route serious buyers to advisors when they're LOI-ready.

What you'll learn

  • How acquisition buyers actually think: criteria, capital structure, financing, timing.
  • Buy-side M&A mechanics and how deals get sourced and won.
  • How to manage a buyer book like a real relationship-driven business asset.
  • Search fund, entrepreneurship-through-acquisition (ETA), and private equity buyer dynamics.
  • How to use AI as leverage in real M&A work.

Where this leads

This is rung one of a defined four-stage track: Buy-Side Intern, Network Relationship Manager, Sell-Side M&A Associate, M&A Advisor. Every promotion is earned, and every step changes both your role and your comp.

You'll thrive here if you

  • Are currently enrolled (juniors and seniors preferred) in business, finance, economics, psychology, communications, or a related field.
  • Can commit 12 to 15 hours per week, flexible around your class schedule.
  • Are tired of guessing about your future and want a defined, ambitious path.
  • Build relationships easily and follow through without being reminded.
  • Are organized, detail-oriented, and good at remembering people and what they care about.
  • Are drawn to the buy-side, where success is about access, trust, and matching.
  • Bring grit.

The deal

  • Part-time, 12 to 15 hours per week, fully remote (U.S.-based).
  • Monthly stipend of $1,200 during the Academy phase.
  • A full-time salary plus commission role waiting after graduation if you perform.
  • Commission upside on deals you help close.
  • Direct mentorship from our principal broker, senior advisors, and our buy-side lead.
