About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior DBA to lead end-to-end database assessment, migration strategy, and execution initiatives. This role will focus on migrating enterprise-scale databases to modern platforms (including cloud), ensuring performance optimization, data integrity, and operational readiness.

You will work closely with application, infrastructure, and data teams to drive seamless database transformations with minimal disruption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess existing database environments (Oracle, SQL/MX, SQL Server, etc.) and identify dependencies
  • Define and execute database migration strategies, including:
    • Cutover planning
    • Backup & recovery
    • Rollback planning
    • Data reconciliation
  • Lead bulk and delta data migration activities
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure integrity and accuracy
  • Tune database performance pre- and post-migration
  • Collaborate with application teams to validate:
    • Database connectivity
    • Query performance
    • Migration readiness
  • Ensure operational readiness, including monitoring, security, and backup processes

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) in enterprise environments
  • Deep expertise in database migration and transformation projects
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Oracle (19c preferred)
    • SQL Server / SQL/MX
    • MySQL (where applicable)
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and data validation techniques
  • Experience with backup/restore, replication, and recovery strategies
  • Strong knowledge of performance tuning (indexes, execution plans, query optimization)
  • Understanding of database security, encryption, and audit compliance

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with Azure database services (Azure SQL, migration services)
  • Exposure to Oracle on Azure VM
  • Familiarity with Azure Database Migration Service (DMS)
  • Knowledge of ETL processes, data modeling, and lifecycle management
  • Experience working in large-scale migration or modernization programs

  • Databases: Oracle 19c, SQL Server, SQL/MX, MySQL
  • Cloud: Azure SQL, Azure DMS, Oracle on Azure VM
  • Migration: Backup/Restore, Replication, Export/Import
  • Data Validation: SQL, PL/SQL, reconciliation scripts
  • Performance: Query tuning, indexing, execution plans
  • Security: Access controls, encryption, audit compliance

Compliance Requirement (Important)

This role may involve working on projects subject to U.S. export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).

  • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders (Lawful Permanent Residents) to be eligible.

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay Range Minimum: $105,000 per year
  • Pay Range Maximum: $160,000 per year
