About the Role
The NBCU Security Architecture team is seeking a Staff Cyber Security Engineer with a focus on emerging technologies, including AI. This role involves partnering with NBCUniversal businesses, enterprise IT, and the Cyber Security organization to ensure secure technology design and deployment, aligned with strategic goals.
As a security subject matter expert, you will be embedded with engineering teams, providing expertise on security controls for AI systems and other emerging technologies. You will identify threats, develop threat models, and design integrated control strategies for new and evolving technology platforms. This analysis requires collaboration across the Cyber organization and with business stakeholders, resulting in security guidance and mitigation requirements.
A key aspect of this role is communicating the importance of Cyber programs and services to gain support and buy-in from business and technology teams, ensuring security objectives are met.
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in architecting secure products and maintaining security posture throughout their lifecycle, in partnership with business and technical teams.
- Ability to explain common threats to Network, Cloud, Web, and Application environments and design context-aware mitigations.
- Familiarity with ML and generative AI technologies, including common security concerns and mitigations.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, including OWASP Top 10 and CWE/SANS Top 25.
- Advanced technical expertise in at least one security domain, with proven experience in designing complex systems and mitigating significant risks.
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Willingness to mentor junior team members.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, adaptable to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A continuous learner, eager to experiment with and develop expertise in new technologies and problem domains.
- Experience in developing and documenting security guidelines or best practices.
- Excellent time management skills for prioritizing multiple concurrent projects.
Desired Characteristics
- Formal degree not required; relevant experience is prioritized.
- Experience performing Threat Analysis and modeling using frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.
- Familiarity with security control frameworks such as Cloud Security Matrix, NIST CSF, and CIS Critical Security Controls.
- In-depth knowledge of generative AI platforms (e.g., Azure OpenAI services) and models (e.g., GPT-4, Llama, Midjourney), including underlying technologies and risks.
- Understanding of data and privacy regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA).
- In-depth knowledge of common Cloud services and platforms (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
- Solid understanding of Cybersecurity Engineering/Operations, Incident Response, and GRC functions.
- Empathy for engineering teams, balancing security guidelines with operational needs.
Additional Requirements
- Fully Remote: This position is expected to be performed from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, typically a home office.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $155,000 (bonus eligible)
