About the Role
Our client, a leader in real-time analytics, data warehousing, and data observability, is seeking a Senior Product Counsel to join their elite, business-focused legal team. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, Product and IP, this role is ideal for an early member of a fast-growing, mission-driven private cloud company.
Responsibilities
- Product Lifecycle Support: Partner with product and engineering teams, providing legal counsel throughout the full product lifecycle, from initial development to launch and beyond.
- Privacy by Design: Integrate privacy-by-design principles into product development processes.
- Scalable Practices: Help shape the legal function's approach to responsible development at scale, with a focus on AI/ML, data privacy, IP, and open-source issues.
- Advisory Role: Act as a solutions-oriented advisor and business enabler, maintaining high standards for legal practice and business ethics in a rapidly expanding company.
- Commercial Agreements: Advise on, draft, and review technology licensing and integration partnership agreements with strategic partners.
- Brand Protection: Advise on trademark and brand protection matters.
- M&A Support: Support integration activities arising from acquisitions.
- Incident Response: Partner with Security and Privacy teams on incident response.
Qualifications
- Law degree and admission to practice in at least one U.S. state, with permission to practice in your state of residence.
- 4 to 8 years of legal experience, combining time at a "Big Law" firm and in-house at a tech company.
- Strong Product Counseling Experience: Demonstrated expertise in advising on product development.
- Technical Legal Knowledge: Solid understanding of AI/ML issues, data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), open-source licensing, and intellectual property.
- Essential Skills: Excellent judgment, business orientation, strong communication and collaboration skills, comfort working with technical and non-technical stakeholders, innate curiosity, detail-orientation, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Experience
- Experience at a SaaS company, particularly in databases, data infrastructure, or data platforms, is a plus.

Compensation
- Annual Base Salary: $250,000 - $275,000
- Additional Compensation: Equity and generous benefits.
